There are significant delays on the M6 following a truck collision across the roadway. The M6 heading north between junctions 32 and 33 is closed as a result of the incident.
The recovery of the vehicle is underway from the first hour and it is expected that the highway will remain closed for a while due to the difficulty of the work, according to the authorities. Motorcyclists are asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes whenever possible.
A detour has been established. Drivers must follow the empty circle symbol, take the M55 westbound to junction 1, then exit and take the A6 northbound via Broughton towards Garstang to rejoin the M6 at the J33.

An Inrix traffic monitoring service update at 4.48am said: “M6 northbound closed, traffic in line due to dump truck and recovery work on J32 M55 (Broughton Interchange) to J33 A6 Preston Lancaster Road (Lancaster South / Garstang).
“The road has been closed since 02:30 on Friday morning and is expected to remain closed for some time due to the difficulty of recovering the truck. Detour – Using the empty circle symbol – Take the M55 at westbound at J1 and then exit and take the A6 northbound via Broughton towards Garstang to join the M6 at J33 “.
National Highways says the event is expected to clear up and normal traffic conditions are likely to resume between 10 a.m. and 10:15 p.m.
