Ministers have told unionist politicians they must restore full power to Sinn Fein before Parliament is asked to pass a controversial new law repealing part of the Northern Ireland Brexit deal.
Foreign Secretary Liz Truss will announce legislation tomorrow that would allow the government to ignore key elements of the Northern Ireland protocol, which critics say would violate international law.
Truss will deny it and say the measures are vital to protecting the Good Friday deal and are fully in line with government obligations.

The Northern Ireland Protocol imposed controls and bans on some goods entering Northern Ireland from the rest of the UK and forced the province to follow EU regulations while Britain is free to diverge.
