ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE NEWS PRESS RELEASE ************************** Members of the Collingwood Detachment and The Blue Mountains of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged individual in connection with what is now considered a homicide in the town of Collingwood.
On the morning of June 10, 2022, officers responded to a death report from a Georgian Meadows subdivision. Officers located a dead woman inside the residence, who has been identified as Kinga Kriston, 55, of Collingwood.
Investigators have arrested and charged John Collins, 57, of Orillia, with first-degree murder, against section 235 (1) of the Canada Penal Code. The accused was arrested and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on June 13 via video.
The investigation continues under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Subdivision with members of the Collingwood OPP Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Forensic Officer.
