“We have been burned before with costly transportation errors at SEQ. We no longer have faith if we do not know the real facts.
“The government and its agencies cannot be trusted in the past.”
Transport Minister Mark Bailey said passengers would know of the changes well in advance of the opening of Cross River Rail, but hinted that the details were still being resolved.
“It’s been three years, more than three years, until we opened the Cross River Rail project, so there’s still a long way to go,” he said.
“We are working very, very hard on the operational plan.”
But Bailey said there would be “no doubt” major changes to the current system of train lines.
“With a completely new railway line, we will have to adjust the system,” he said.
“… It will launch well in a long, very long time, before the system opens, so Robert will have a very happy day when we announce it, I know.”
Bailey said the government wanted to warn travelers as much as possible so they could adjust their travel plans.
Cross River Rail promises to provide an additional 18,000 seats on Brisbane trains, remove 14,000 drivers from the roads, reduce travel time on existing train lines in south-east Queensland and create more than 7,700 jobs.
