Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California), was arrested Saturday night on charges of driving under the influence.
Napa County records show that Paul Pelosi, 82, was arrested at 11:44 p.m. Saturday and was booked around 4 a.m. Sunday for a driving count under the effects and a count of driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher.
Both charges are misdemeanor offenses and his bail was set at $ 5,000, according to records. The arrest was first reported by TMZ.
The Napa County Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A representative of Nancy Pelosi’s office said the speaker was not in California during the incident.
“The spokesman will not comment on this private matter that happened while he was on the east coast,” Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill said in a statement.
On Sunday, Nancy Pelosi received an honorary degree from Brown University and delivered her graduation speech on the 2022 school promotion.
