Wednesday was an active day across southern Ontario as a slow-moving line of storms led to tornado warnings and flooding rains in many regions.
Exceptionally warm and humid daytime temperatures reached the 30s, with feel-like values in the 40s in parts of the province. With high humidity and moisture in the atmosphere, conditions were favorable for heavy, torrential rain and damaging wind gusts of over 100 km/h.
The storms came in several rounds. The first cumulus arrived in the morning, moving over the central Great Lakes, the Bruce Peninsula and into the rural north country. While the second cluster or line of storms extended from Lake Huron into Georgian Bay, affecting the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and rural country during the afternoon hours.
Weather Network meteorologist Mark Robinson was on the shores of Lake Huron to capture the impact.

The amount of rain that fell in parts of Ontario in one day nearly matched the rainfall totals for the entire month of July.
