Waterloo Regional Police have released the name and photo of a man they believe is in the area and is considered armed and dangerous.
In a press release issued Friday, June 3, police said they had reason to arrest Clayton Hirtle, 22, in connection with a May 9 incident in downtown Kitchener.
Police were called to the Queen Street South and Charles Street area that night to report shootings.
At the time, police said they received reports of two black men, one with a handgun, fleeing the area before officers arrived.
No injuries were reported.
According to police, Hirtle is from Coutice, Ontario, on the outskirts of Oshawa.
He is described as 5 feet 10, about 165 pounds, with a thin complexion and long brown hair.
Police said they had reason to charge him with the following offenses:
- Unauthorized firearm tension
- Have a weapon for dangerous purposes
- Discharge of firearm – recklessness
- Reckless use of firearm, weapon, ammunition
- Carry a concealed weapon
- Firearm or weapon: possession contrary to the prohibition order
- Non-compliance with the custodial order (two charges)
