Peel police have charged a teenager with a threat against a Brampton school on social media.
Police said she was alerted to “disturbing” social media messages on Wednesday.
They did not specify what was in the posts or the nature of the threat, but police said it was against a school in the Mississauga Road and Bovaird Drive area.
On Thursday, police announced that a 17-year-old boy had been arrested and charged with making threats to cause death or personal injury. His identity cannot be revealed under the terms of the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act.
Police have warned that they will investigate the threatening posts on social media and that those responsible may be charged.
Similar incidents have been reported in several schools in the region in recent days. Hamilton police arrested and charged a 14-year-old girl on Thursday after a school threat was made.
They added that more threats are being investigated in other schools in the city in addition to those reported on Wednesday.
