Police have named a 43-year-old suspect in a bank robbery in Toronto’s Chinatown neighborhood last month where a cashier was stabbed several times.
Police say on June 27, a suspicious man entered the bank, located on Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street, wearing a mask and sweatshirt and pulled out a knife.
He is said to have then jumped over the counter, approached an employee and asked for cash.
According to police, this employee took cash out of his wallet and offered it to the suspect.
The suspect took the cash but then allegedly stabbed the employee several times.
Subsequently, the employee was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries but which did not endanger his life.
Police say the suspect, meanwhile, fled the bank through an emergency exit located at the back of the premises.
On Tuesday, police identified the suspect as Mark Webster, 43.
He is wanted for 13 crimes, including theft with an offensive weapon, assault with bodily injury and intentional disguise.
Investigators say he should not be approached and that anyone who detects him should call 911 immediately.
