ProtonMail is undergoing a major brand change, new levels are announced

One of the most popular secure email applications out there, ProtonMail, is becoming Proton, integrating all of its security features into a single package. This package would offer services such as VPN, cloud storage, an encrypted calendar and, of course, email.

Today’s free ProtonMail users can continue to use most of its functionality at no cost

“Today, we are taking our biggest step forward in moving to an Internet that respects your privacy. The new updated Proton offers an account, many services and a default privacy ecosystem. You can now enjoy unified protection with a modernized look, “Proton CEO Andy Yen said in a blog post (via PCMag).

Proton even has a new website: proton.me. In addition, the company will allow users to change their email addresses from @ protonmail.com to an address @ proton.me. Proton was also kind enough to set up a dedicated page to address pricing issues, especially for existing paid subscribers.

Proton said it will offer a different plan for companies, known simply as Proton Business. Individual subscribers can choose from free, unlimited plans or Mail Plus. Free level customers get up to 1GB of storage, albeit with some restrictions. Users are limited to only 150 messages per day and can only have up to three tags and folders. Basic versions of Proton VPN and Proton Calendar are also available for free customers.

Meanwhile, the Proton Unlimited plan costs $ 10 a month. It offers the full range of Proton applications / add-ons, including premium ProtonMail, Calendar and Drive (500GB). Unlimited users also enjoy the full VPN experience with access to over 1,700 servers in 63 countries and significantly improved speeds.

The Mail Plus plan is in the middle of $ 4 a month with 15GB of storage to share between ProtonMail and Drive. This plan has no limitations on the tags and folders or the number of messages you can send. Users only receive the basic version of Proton VPN with this plan.

Proton will launch a dedicated mobile app for Proton Drive later this year

Proton currently has mobile apps for all of its services except Drive. This is because Drive is still in beta and Proton expects to launch the app later this year. However, Drive users can still access the company’s web application.

Proton’s new plans are pretty impressive, considering some customers are getting an upgrade. It makes sense to include all security-oriented applications under one umbrella. It could even persuade customers to stop paying separately for individual subscriptions.
