Since taking over Peru in 2015, Gareca has rightly received widespread praise. The Argentine won the team a third place in the Copa America in 2015 before following him with a second place in 2019, while qualifying the nation for the 2018 World Cup.

Australian coach Graham Arnold pays tribute to Redmayne penalty shootout hero
Australian coach Arnold is clearly excited about his post-match interview and is understandable. He has received scathing criticism due to Australia’s inconsistent performances since he became the team’s coach in 2018.
“Andrew Redmayne is a very good penalty saver, and to try to get him to the mental aspect while we were making this change, to add a little uncertainty to his brains, that was, yes, that’s the reason.” said Arnold. in his post-match interview.
Meanwhile, Arnold has also reiterated that the criticism he has received has not bothered him.
“The doubters don’t bother me, it’s these guys who interest me, the game that interests me. I do it for my family and I want to dedicate it to my brother, Colin. When my parents died when I was little, I had no one to support me. My big brother has been my whole life, and he is number 1, “he added.

Australian coach Arnold made the big decision to replace Mat Ryan with Andrew Redmayne. It paid off as the substitute goalkeeper made two key stops to see Australia at home for a fifth consecutive World Cup in Qatar this November.

Australia replaces Mat Ryan in goal with Andrew Redmayne. This is a great call from Australian coach Graham Arnold. It was definitely done considering the penalties, as Ryan showed no signs of injury.
Australia also brought Goodwin for Behich.

Moments after hitting a pass too strong and in the hands of Australian goalkeeper Ryan, Cueva is pulled off the field and replaced by Alex Valera. This could be a blow to Peru, as Cueva is likely to have been one of his penalties.

Flores almost won it twice for Peru. He first made a good run before playing in a rather disinterested way in a cut to Cueva whose shot did not go to goal. Lapadula thought he should have been chosen.

Finally, Peru had the first shot on goal, but Flores’ effort was too easy for Ryan, who made a comfortable stop.
In what was perhaps the closest goal of any team so far, Behich almost scored a goal that would have given Australia the lead in the 84th minute.
