Redland Mayor Karen Williams has been accused of drunk driving after crashing her car after work more than a week ago.
He has been issued a notice to file for a felony of driving while intoxicated, with police alleging that his blood alcohol concentration was 0.177 percent, more than three times the legal limit.
Mrs. Williams crashed at an intersection in Cleveland, Brisbane Bay, on June 23 at 9 p.m., hours after the budget had been officially dictated.
His Lexus hit the road, hit a fence and hit a tree.
Mrs. Williams, 55, was the only one in the car and was not seriously injured, but was taken to hospital for an assessment.
