The Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres meet on MLB action Sunday from Petco Park.
The Pittsburgh Pirates will be looking to finish the series strong in Sunday’s game. Ke’Bryan Hayes also has a maximum of 40 hits and 11 doubles with a batting average of 0.272, while Daniel Vogelbach has 6 homers and 14 RBIs. Ben Gamel also has a maximum of 17 RBIs, while Michael Chavis and Yoshi Tsutsugo have 15 RBIs each and Bryan Reynolds has 6 homers per year. Roansy Contreras will start here and has a 1-0 lead with 2.13 and 15 strikeouts this season.
The San Diego Padres will be hoping to take advantage of some of the remaining 16 runners at base who failed in Saturday’s game to have a better offensive performance here. Manny Machado has a maximum of 60 hits with 12 doubles, 8 homers and 27 RBIs, while Jurickson Profar also has 5 homers and 20 RBIs. Eric Hosmer also has 52 hits with a .331 batting average and 8 doubles, as well as 4 homers and 24 RBIs this season. Jake Cronenworth and Trent Grisham also have a pair of triples this season. Mackenzie Gore will start here and is 3-1 with an effectiveness of 2.06 and 38 strikeouts this season.
Pittsburgh is 6-13 in its last 19 games on Sunday and 52-106 in its last 158 games as a disadvantage, while the bottom is 7-2-3 in its last 12 games overall. San Diego is 6-2 in its last 8 games overall and 14-6 in its last 20 games as a favorite, while the bottom is 3-0-1 in its last 4 games against NL Central.
I understand the reasoning for supporting either side in this, but I’m looking at the Fathers in this. I’m not sure what to do with Contreras in a small sample so far this season. Mackenzie Gore has been good so far this season and I think he’s able to lead the Padres to a win at the -1.5 line in this one, as I hope San Diego will pick up some of the runners they left at base on Saturday. .
