Yu Suzuki, the legendary designer behind the classics of Sega, Shenmue, Virtua Fighter, OutRun and Space Harrier, has unveiled the new 3D shooter Air Twister, which will hit Apple Arcade on June 24th.
Air Twister is a fantasy shooting game “developed by the Shenmue 3 YS Net studio” that asks players, in the role of Princess Arch, to fight the alien invaders and save their planet from destruction with their arrows. of trust.
As the trailer reveals, there is a definitive Space Harrier atmosphere throughout, with a touch of Panzer Dragoon as our leadership soars into the back of a giant swan and, according to an interview attended by GameSpot , Air Twister is based on a fantasy shooting game that Yu Suzuki proposed in the 80’s, before adapting the idea to Space Harrier due to the technical limitations of the time.

“This is my ideal fantasy shooting game,” Yu Suzuki told attendees. “I think when you play it, you’ll see that it has a very different feel.”
Air Twister promises 20 enemies and 10 unique bosses in its 12 stages, along with new modes (which can be unlocked by collecting stars) and ranked leaderboards. It will also be possible to connect a gamepad for a more “arcade” experience if you want an alternative to touch controls.
Air Twister will be available through Apple Arcade’s subscription service starting June 24th.
