Tens of thousands of Ontario residents are facing another day without electricity as restoration efforts continue after last weekend’s brutal storm.
Environment Canada said on Saturday a right (a rare widespread windstorm associated with a storm line) developed near Sarnia, Ontario, and moved northeast across the province.
Hydro One says nearly 72,760 customers are still in the dark, and those in the Bancroft, Perth and Tweed regions are expected to be without electricity for several days.
Hydro Ottawa says about 53,000 customers are still without electricity, but most are expected to have the service restored by Friday.
At least 10 people were killed and three communities declared a state of emergency following Saturday’s storm.
Thousands of trees were felled, power lines fell, and extensive property damage was reported in some areas.
