Trell Huether, the manager of issues, media relations and correspondence at the Ontario Ministry of Labor, Training and Skills Development, made the following statement on SooToday, clarifying the status of a worker whose death is the subject of an investigation by the ministry.
The updated statement removes a previous reference to the finding of the worker with “fatal injuries”.
“On Friday, June 3, the Ministry of Labor, Training and Skills Development was notified of a worker who was found unanswered on the property of Algoma Steel in Sault Ste Marie.”
“EMS transferred the worker to the hospital in the area where he was pronounced dead.”
“The incident happened on the property of Algoma Steel and the employer is Fountain Tire.”

Ontario’s Ministry of Labor, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) says it was reported last Friday that a worker was found unanswered with fatal injuries on the property of Algoma Steel.
The worker was an employee of Fountain Tire.
“An MLTSD inspector attended the scene and an order was issued,” ministry spokesman Kalem McSween told SooToday.
“The ministry’s investigation is ongoing,” McSween said.
“The order was issued to the employer, Fountain Tire.”
“Due to ongoing investigation, specific details about orders / requirements cannot be shared at this time. This limitation on disclosure is temporary to protect the investigation. Following the completion of our investigation and any possible processing , information related to any order or requirement issued can be released, “he said.
