The driver who killed Nicki Minaj’s father, Robert Maraj, in a hit-and-run has just been sentenced to time behind bars.
Charles Polevich was ordered to serve a year in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to two felony counts: leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and tampering with physical evidence. In addition, his driver’s license will be suspended for 6 months and he will pay a fine of $5,000.
Polevich was facing 7 years in prison, but Judge Howard Sturim followed through with a commitment to sentence him to no more than a year in prison.
TMZ broke the story … Nicki’s father died at age 64 after being hit in a hit-and-run accident in February 2021 while walking on Long Island.
At the time, police said the driver fled the scene and tried to hide the car in a detached garage instead. Robert was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries.
Nicki finally opened up about the tragedy on her website saying… “I can say it’s been the most devastating loss of my life.”
