A low pressure system moving across the prairies brought rocky weather to parts of the region on Thursday. The system responsible for all the fuss will move east on Friday and bring the threat of storms to Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. More information on what to expect in the coming days, below.
Friday: Active weather moves into Manitoba/Ontario, Prairie temperatures rise next week
We’ll see another round of showers and storms move into the eastern prairies for our day on Friday.
Instability ahead of a cold front will allow storms to bubble over eastern parts of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.
The risk of severe thunderstorms will cover parts of northwestern Ontario from Fort Frances to Sandy Lake, including Dryden and Red Lake.
Friday’s strongest storms could produce large hail, damaging wind gusts and heavy rain. Some of the storms could also develop rotation. Keep a close eye on warnings throughout the day and make sure you’re ready to take quick action if threatening weather approaches your location.
Southern Manitoba will arrive as the Prairie hotspot Friday afternoon, with daytime highs creeping into the low 30s in some areas.
Temperatures across the southern prairies will temporarily ease toward the start of the weekend before high heat returns to southern regions. For much of next week, temperatures are forecast to climb into the mid-30s.
