Tony 2022 Awards View Guide

It is the biggest event of the year on Broadway, celebrating the best theater on the Gran Via Blanca.

West Side Story star and Oscar winner Ariana DeBose is the show’s presenter and spoke to CNN earlier this week about what to expect.

“I think I’m going to do what everyone thinks I’m going to do, which is sing, dance and try to act and make it an extravagance,” he said laughing. “And maybe I’ll surprise some, too, that he knows it’s live from coast to coast … and that’s what makes it exciting. There’s nothing like live theater.”

DeBose, a self-proclaimed fan of the entire theater, said she turned to past Tony Awards shows to prepare for her role on Sunday.

“I’ve seen countless and countless Tony Awards shows again and I’m not James Corden, I’m definitely not Neil Patrick Harris or Hugh Jackman for that. And I’m not Whoopi Goldberg, but I’ve been inspired by them all,” he said. DeBose. “I’m excited because it’s a playground for me. I’ve never done it before, so I do a kind of experiment and the good thing is that I love these people and I don’t mind falling on my face and looking a little silly for people who I love it. So here we are! “
