Tottenham put up with a late attempt by Chelsea to sign Everton striker Richarlison.

Everton had rejected the Spurs ’initial £ 40million on Wednesday at 4pm, but returned with a revised £ 50million plus offer that Chelsea chose not to match.

Richarlison underwent his medical on Thursday in Brazil with Tottenham staff present and will return to the UK next week. Watford will receive about £ 2 million from the deal.

Tottenham are also ahead in talks over a £ 15million deal for Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence and have a loan for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet.

Richarlison will trade Everton for Tottenham in a £ 60million deal.

Richarlison will become Antonio Conte’s fourth summer signing in an impressive window after already landing Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma.

The Spurs are expected to commit to an initial £ 50 million package, with an additional £ 10 million in add-ons that will raise the Brazilian’s total spending to around £ 60 million.

Everton and the Spurs had been locked in talks in the last few days before they finally reached an agreement.

Spurs president Daniel Levy met with Everton’s good friend and counterpart Bill Kenwright for dinner at Scott’s in London on Monday evening.

Several Tottenham players have been mentioned as potential weights, although winger Steven Bergwijn, whom Everton previously considered in the window, has expressed a preference for joining Ajax or another team. of the Champions League.

Proposals involving Harry Winks have also been rejected.

Everton had demanded a £ 60million fee, which the Spurs have finally agreed to meet

Conte wants to quickly join his squad and prepare his team well in advance of the end of the transfer period.

Richarlison’s signing would increase Conte’s options with the Brazilian international able to operate out or in front comfortably.

He would be able to offer competition in the attack zones as well as attach to Harry Kane, limiting the pressure on Son Heung-min.

The Brazilian striker will become the latest addition to the squad of Spurs coach Antonio Conte

Everton are willing to listen to offers from the 25-year-old because, despite avoiding relegation last season, his financial situation remains precarious.

They can raise capital by selling players and seek to give manager Frank Lampard as much money as possible to rebuild a competitive side.

In total, Richarlison has made 152 appearances with Everton since joining from Watford in 2018 for £ 40 million, scoring 53 goals.

Chelsea are in talks to sign Leeds’ Raphinha after opting not to increase their bid for Richarlison.
