Police have charged two men with murder and misconduct with a corpse after human remains were discovered earlier this week in a wooded part of the Sunshine Coast.
Key points:
- The human remains found in a forested area on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are those of 57-year-old Donna Howe.
- Now two people have been charged with murder and misconduct with a corpse
- The wreckage was found by two men driving a four-wheel drive remote road in the Glasshouse Mountains.
Detectives believe the body is that of Donna Howe, a 57-year-old Caboolture woman who was last seen by the family in April last year, although forensic tests are ongoing.
Police have charged a 41-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, both from Caboolture, with death.
It is said that they both knew the victim.
They are due to appear in the Caboolture Court of Instruction today.
Police were alerted to the heavily decomposed remains on Tuesday afternoon, after they were discovered by two young men driving on a four-wheel drive remote road in the Beerburrum State Forest in the Glasshouse Mountains.

The couple reported the horror discovery through their father and then took the police back to the scene.
At a news conference Wednesday, Detective Sergeant Major Craig Mansfield said the gender of the remains is unknown, as well as the time of death.
Sgt Mansfield said the remains were blackened, which could indicate they were set on fire, and a lighter was found at the scene.
Police hope to have more information this afternoon.
