Two men arrested after shoplifting in West Belfast

Police investigating a report of an assault on Stewartstown Road west of Belfast have arrested two men.

Shortly after 1 p.m., an armed response vehicle from the PSNI responded to a report of an altercation at a store in the area.

A 22-year-old man was attacked by several men inside and was taken to hospital with injuries.

Detective Sergeant Kitchen said: “A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of joint assault and intentional grievous bodily harm, and a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of intentional grievous bodily harm.

“Right now, the two men are helping the police with their investigations.”
