Daniil Medvedev was defeated 6-1 and 6-4 on Sunday by Hubert Hurkacz in the Halle Open final with his coach leaving the court midway through the game.
During the match, Medvedev had an intense session with Gilles Cervara. The Russian could be seen shouting at him, which caused Cervara to abruptly leave the track. It’s not uncommon for Medvedev to call his team, but his coach tends to take it easy.
They’ve been working together for a long time and that probably won’t mean anything in the big scheme of things, but it was a curious moment to see how the coach just went up and away. Medvedev will then play at the Mallorca Open, where he is the first seed. The world number one has won seven new turf games this season, but will be disappointed not to have a title in his name.
