Wordle’s response today June 12th
Wordle’s answer today is to float.
Given humanity’s long relationship with ships, water, and all things nautical, you can imagine that float is an especially ancient word with very similar equivalents in both Middle English and Old English.
It has recorded uses dating back to the 1100s that are used both as a noun and as a verb.
This is not to say that a word cannot take on new meanings over the centuries. Anyone who has worked in a store may be familiar with a “cash float” exchange. While you can make one of humanity’s greatest inventions, ice cream floats, mixing ice cream and glue.
Your job here is done, but why not try these Wordle alternatives?
