Sydney rail commuters should expect delays this morning as industrial action affects peak-hour services.
The disruption is expected to last until 8am today after rail workers stopped work overnight for four hours.

The Rail, Tram and Bus Union said it would work to try to get the train network up and running as soon as possible to minimize disruption to commuters.
But he also warned there could be disruption for commuters during the morning rush hour commute today.
Hundreds of state highway construction workers are also going on a 24-hour strike today over a pay offer they say is a pay cut.

Many of the workers who will take industrial action today maintain roads, highways and bridges, including the iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge.
Plans to strike earlier this month were called off at the last minute, when the NSW Industrial Relations Commission issued orders to workers to halt industrial action for a fortnight, because their work was deemed essential.
But after this deadline, the planned strike will take place today, starting at 6 am today for 24 hours.

“These workers don’t take action lightly. They haven’t been on strike in decades. The reason they’re persisting this time is that they simply can’t deal with a pay cut,” said Cameron, vice president of the union’s NSW Workers Australia. Wright.
“These are the working men and women who have been out there during wildfires and freak floods to keep New South Wales moving.
Meanwhile, rubbish bins in Melbourne’s CBD will not be collected this morning when lorry drivers strike. They are demanding a $50 weekly increase in their pay.
